Sergio Perez

Sergio Perez joins Sauber in 2011, his debut year in F1. The young Mexican driver was runner up in the 2010 GP2 Series, and joins Sauber with the financial backing of the Mexican telecom giant Telmex. Perez is a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy.

Sergio Pérez Mendoza, born in Mexico, has been competing in international motor racing since 2004 when he took part in the United States-based Skip Barber National Championship, finishing in eleventh place. In 2005 Perez moved to Europe to take part in the German Formula BMW ADAC series, finishing in 14th place in '05 and sixth place in 2006.

In 2007, Perez moved to the British Formula Three Championship, he had a spectacular season, winning the championship. (He won two-thirds of the races and a similar proportion of pole positions, finishing all but two races on the podium). In 2008, he moved to the premier International Class of the British Formula Three Championship, finishing in fourth place.

Perez raced for the Campos Grand Prix team in the 2008-09 GP2 Asia Series season, winning his first race at Sakhir and claiming a further victory in Qater. In 2009 he raced in the GP2, finishing in twelfth position. In 2010 he moved to Barwa Addax, he won five races and finished second in the standings behind Pastor Maldonado.

Perez will race for the Sauber team in 2011, as Kamui Kobayashi teammate.
